About
The students in our three Certificate in Carpentry Level 3 classes have started to build one house each just last week. The 35 students on the one-year programme will spend the coming months applying their skills in a real-life situation, working under close supervision of their tutors. Two houses will be auctioned with proceeds going to Homes of Hope.
Homes of Hope care for children who have been neglected or abused and need protection. They are able to keep siblings together when they are not able to live at home in homes they can call their own and commit to these children is for as long as it takes to find forever resolutions for them. This is a community driven charity, passionate about all of us joining together to make a difference in these precious lives.
If you are interested in bidding for one of the houses, look out for details later on in the year.
In this blog, tutors and students will reflect on how the build is going, you’ll see up-to-date photos of the construction (just click the image on the right side to see more), and much more. We welcome your comments and questions.
Stop by to see how the build is going -> at the end of the Polytech car park at Windermere Campus.

Hi There
I think you guys have been doing a wonderful job with the Homes of Hope. I work for a painting company in Tauranga and we often have leftover paint which never fetches much in the side sale department. I am wondering if you may be able to put some of it to use. I have recently been promoted to project manager after four years painting for programmed property services. I have watched from a front row seat as the economy and the industry itself has struggled through the last two years. Please feel free to email me if you think you could use some paint, even if it is just for boxing up and undercoating. Jeremy.
